About Us

The Appalachian Liberation Library is a free lending library and reading room in Johnson City, Tennessee. The library came out of the Northeast TN People’s Movement in 2017 and now operates as entirely its own project.

We are a family-friendly, entirely volunteer-run, donation-funded space.

Borrowing Books

Drop by when we're open to get your free, union-printed Appalachian Liberation Library card.

Card holders can check out any book from our catalog for 30 days.
